Winter in Warsaw

Warsaw offers many magical attractions in winter, perfect for both short and long stays. Below, you'll find a suggestion that combines typical winter activities with the city's cultural highlights:

1. Stroll along the Royal Christmas Route

  • Start at Castle Square, where the large Christmas tree is located. Then, stroll along Krakowskie Przedmieście and Nowy Świat Streets. These streets are decorated with spectacular illuminations every year, creating a fairytale atmosphere perfect for a winter stroll.
  • To warm up, I recommend visiting a historic café in the Old Town or Nowy Świat. Hot chocolate, such as at E. Wedel's, is worth trying.

2. Ice Rink in the Heart of the City

  • The ice rink in the Old Town Market Square is the most atmospheric. Ice skating surrounded by historic tenement houses is a classic winter pastime in Warsaw.

3. Panorama of Winter Warsaw

  • Observation Deck at the Palace of Culture and Science (PKiN): Ascend to the 30th floor of the Palace to admire the breathtaking panorama of snow-covered Warsaw.
  • Observation Deck at Varso Tower: Ascend to the 53rd floor and see Warsaw from the tallest building in the European Union. From the 360° panoramic deck, you'll be captivated by a bird's-eye view of the city, with an unparalleled view of the Palace of Culture and Science, which seems to be within reach.

4. Christmas Market

  • In the 2025/2026 winter season, the first, inaugural edition of the Christmas Market will take place at the Palace of Culture and Science, from November 28, 2025, to January 1, 2026, in the heart of the capital.
  • The market offers many attractions for children and adults. Among them are the largest Ferris wheel in Poland, standing 55 meters tall, a Venetian carousel, Santa's House, and a 14-meter Christmas tree carousel!
  • Exhibitors from various regions of Poland will offer visitors products from the following categories: crafts, handicrafts, and food products. There will also be food stalls offering hot dishes, sweets, drinks, and warming drinks.
  • During the Christmas Market in Warsaw, Defilad Square will also feature a stage hosting concerts, charity events, and workshops.
